3rd Day–Cooking with the girls and soccer

On Wednesday we went over to some single girl’s house and helped make lunch.

Here I am frying tempe which is one of my favorite Indonesian foods.  Basically it is fermented soy beans that are packed together then sliced and soaked in garlic, salt water before being fried.  It sounds very strange, but it is very delicious!

IMG_2223The meal that we made was a meal traditional to that area.  It consisted of squash, cassava, sweet potatoes, a variety of leaves and I don’t remember what else.  It was a little strange, but still very good.

DSCN4304While we were eating lunch it started pouring and rained for quite a long time.  My friend Chi and I were excited because that meant that the soccer field was going to be muddy for the soccer game later that afternoon. =)

DSCN4307Around Christmas time a friend from the states sent me some used kids jersey’s and soccer balls.  I took those with me to give to the ladies and they were thrilled!!!

DSCN4319Having some fun after the soccer game . . . it was still raining a bit on and off while we were playing so we were all a little wet.

I started playing not wearing shoes cause I didn’t want to get my shoes all muddy and I hate the feeling of wet socks.  At halftime one of my new friends ran and grabbed me a pair of cleats that were her cousins and they actually fit my big feet. =)
