Several months ago I saw my first helicopter since living here in Asia Pacific. From the reactions of many people here I decided that seeing helicopters was not a normal occurrence for those living in this area. Several weeks ago I heard and saw another helicopter when I was on my way to pick up my friends to teach them how to drive a motor bike. As we were headed to a soccer field where they could practice I noticed that the sound of the helicopter was getting really loud and then I looked through the trees and realized that it was landing on the soccer field where we were headed. Talk about crazy!
We got to the field just after it landed and soon were joined by many Indonesians wanting to catch a glimpse of this crazy, noisy machine.

It was interesting to see their reactions as I’m sure for many they haven’t seen too many helicopters, especially that close up.
The helicopter didn’t stay down long before it took off again and then the kids went back to playing on the soccer field and we started our motor bike lesson.
I’m kind of glad that weren’t already on the field practicing . . . that could have been a little extra crazy.
