Making the Most of My Last Days

The other day I went with a group of my friends from a little village up the mountain to a touristy spot about 20 min from where I live.  They all rode their motorbikes down the mountain to the town where we live and then we loaded up into two cars and went to Banaran Coffee Plantation.  The kids enjoyed playing on the playground equipment as well as a random golf cart while the adults just chilled and talked.  I floated in between both groups as I am 1/2 adult and 1/2 kid. =)

This is while we were waiting in line to ride the tram that takes you up the big hill to see all the coffee trees as well as the cool view.

After lunch the kids went swimming while everyone else just sat outside and chilled/slept.

Ibu P (Ibu=Mrs) and Pak D (Pak=Mr) and their family . . . their daughter is such a wonderful girl, she’s about 9 but acts so much older, she is such a joy! Ibu P has also become a dear friend and I’m so thankful for the way that she has helped in teaching me about language and culture.

Ibu E and Pak P and their ADORABLE daughter! Ibu E is one of my dearest friends here and I greatly enjoy any chance that I get to hang out with her. Also Pak P is one of the funniest people that I know is always joking around. Little adorable Silo has taken a while to warm up to me but in the last couple of months she has started to kind of want to hang out with me, now however after this outing we are good friends . . . should have done this 2 years ago.

Ibu L and Pak J and little D. Ibu L is also one of my dearest friends, she has welcomed me with open arms and has been such a blessing in my language and culture learning. She is always inviting me over and one of my favorite things is being in her tiny kitchen helping her cook or just sitting down drinking tea. Pak J has been such a good friend as well and he is always looking out for me. He as well is super funny and when you get him and Pak P (above) together get ready for  some sore abs and tears cause you will be laughing SO hard.

What to say about this family . . . they are my family here. I am so very thankful for their friendship and they way they have received me into their family. Pak M and Ibu T have taught be so much about living humbly, graciously, generously and what living a life of servant hood looks like. Mbak V (Mbak=Miss) has been such a great sister and I will never forget the time that she stayed at my house for a couple of days while her parents were away. D has been the little brother that I never had and I will never forget his joy in eating at KFC and McDonalds with me. =)

These are just a few of the faces that I will be saying goodbye too in the coming days and these also are going to be some of the hardest goodbyes . . . I better go by a BIG box of tissues. =)
